Step back to the golden era of shaving with this 1940s Gillette Gold Fat Handle Tech Double Edge Safety Razor, preserved in original condition with its authentic Gillette gold plating. A classic example of Gillette craftsmanship, this razor combines functional excellence with vintage elegance, making it a prized addition for collectors and traditional wet shavers alike.

The razor comes in its original case, featuring a mint-condition felt interior and an outer material that has been remarkably well preserved over the decades. While the gold plating shows some natural aging, it adds character and authentic patina, reflecting the razor’s history rather than diminishing its appeal.

This set also includes original blades, allowing the razor to be displayed or used as intended. Compact, stylish, and historically significant, the Fat Handle Tech remains one of Gillette’s most sought-after models—a perfect piece for collectors, vintage enthusiasts, or anyone looking to own a functional piece of shaving history.

  • Oval slots (elongated, non-triangular holes) indicate a post-war Tech model, produced from approximately 1946 to 1953. These versions are typically known for being a milder, smoother shave.
Gillette transitioned to the oval slots during or just after WWII, and date codes (a letter and a number) were added to the razors starting in the third quarter of 1950. Razors with oval slots and no date code are typically from the late 1940s. The change in slot shape was related to better blade support and the angle at which the razor works.
