Quite rightly regarded as one of the best of the Gillette Aristocrats, this piece is in superb condition. Made in England in 1948, with Pat No. 430 030 on the underside of the flat, raised base plate, the notched center bar and the shiny rhodium plating which only shows a little aging here and there, all add to this razor's beauty. The doors open very smoothly, all mechanisms are in perfect working order.
So why is the closed comb (safety bar) #16 considered on of the best razors ever made? The weight (a hefty 82g) make this DE shaver perfectly balanced and provides a stunningly smooth but efficient shave. 1-2 passes with the grain and/or against the grain is all that's needed to give your face a BBS feel. No need to press hard using this while shaving, just take a hold of the beautiful barber pole handle and let the razor do all the work for you!
