6/8'' Eiko Yasuki Tamahagane Steel Shave Ready Straight Razor | Japan

Available is a unique Japanese Straight Razor Eiko Yasuki Tamahagane Steel with original faux tortoise scales.  This blade is ground with a spike point tip, making it an accurate shaver, more-so than a round point. This is a unique blade that will provide smooth shaves for years to come! Definitely worth a try if you are looking to add some variety to your shave den! This incredible Eiko straight razor is made of Hitachi Yasuki Steel which is the modern Hitachi metals version of Tamahagane steel made from iron sand. Essentially it is one of the highest quality steels made in Japan due to its very high carbon content and extremely fine grain. Classically it would take a Japanese blacksmith days without sleep to produce a small amount of this treasured material. The purity of this steel allows for a very sharp edge that will hold its sharpness longer than other steels. 

This straight razor makes for a great razor because of its large size and comfortable shave provided. Razor has been restored, cleaned, and sanitized making it Shave Ready for your shaving pleasure. Ground with a hollow grind, this will plow down stubble with no trouble. Blade has a beautiful mirror finish, and has been highly buffed to perfection. Truly a masterpiece!

Restoration: This razor went through our complete Revamp service. It was first polished to a near mirror finish, removing all active rust and as much metal as was safe for this grind. The scales were also polished to give a high luster. The blade then went through our True Honing process, utilizing stones such as a Naniwa Chosera 10k, Belgian Yellow Coticule and Shapton 30k to give this straight razor the perfect edge. It arrives to you stropped and shave ready.
