6/8" W&B? "Set Ready For Use & Universally Approved" Near Wedge | Sheffield England

Here is a piece of Sheffield history with an unclear past. This near wedge razor states" Set Ready For Usage & Universally Approved". The stamp has been seen on other Chopper blades such as Wade & Butcher (see images above for example.) However, in its current condition, razor manufacture cannot be clearly determined. The blade itself is of course Sheffield steel based on the grind, size, original horn scales and bulls-eye pinning. It screams pre 1883 Sheffield because of the lack of the word England anywhere on the blade (a requirement after that year). 

Metal has been cleaned, polished and restored to a near mirror finish. Some original pitting was not removed but all active rust is gone. Spanish / barber's notch front end gives this 6/8" chopper a mean and cool look! A near wedge straight razor is ideal for both upkeep (sharpening on a stone) and new-shaver usage. This blade brings together Sheffield cutlery craftsmanship and modern practicality.
