9/16" Lund Straight Razor | England

Truly a remarkable blade here! The Lund 57 Corn Hill Straight razor! This razor is form the 1800's and aside from a small amount of pitting looks like it was made yesterday! You wont find many blades this old that look so good. The ivory scales look amazing, the original metal wedge shines with brilliance! This razor is a true piece of history and has many glorious shaves left to offer. 

A Bit of History:

In the begining of the 1800's Thomas Lund started selling vanity boxes which were the height of lifestlyle luxory in those days. The quality of the boxes and the items inside would show the persons style and elegance. In 1814 the buisness was moved to 57 Cornhill, London which is the address found on this blade. Throughout the century Lund became more synonymous with corkscrews. The company dissolved in 1972.

Restoration Process:

The razor was disassembled. The blade and scales were cleaned and polished bringing a high mirror finish to the blade and restoring the original beauty of the ivory scales! After being pinned back together the razor moved to our true honing process. 

Honing Process:

Honing starts out on a Chosera 1000 Wet stone were I begin to set the bevel. Once the bevel outine is finished I move onto the Chosera 3000 where the bevel is cleaned up and refined. Next its on to the polishing stage which starts out on the Aishyama 6000 and moves to the naniwa 12000. After the 12k, a perfectly good shave can occur. But we like to take it one step further and finish with a high polish on the Suehiro Gokumyo 20000. After honing, the blade is stropped, oiled, and shave ready!
