This is an ironstone brown transferware shaving scuttle that was made by the Burleigh potters of the Staffordshire, England area. This 1970s creation is designed so that it will hold hot water under the cake of shaving soap. The hot water is for use on the brush while lathering while also helping to soften the soap. The holes also allow the water to drain thus keeping the soap from getting soggy.

The scuttle measures 6" (15.2 cm) long including the handle and stands 3-3/4" (9.5 cm) tall. The water compartment has a comfortable 10 ounce (295 ml) capacity. This appears brand new with only a hairline crack barely visible. The gold trim is 99% intact with just minor signs of storage wear on the top rim but no signs of use.
