History: The Gillette Super Speed came on the scene in the late 1940's and ran through continuous production into the 1980's. The "Flair Tip" variety came out in the 1950's and ran through the late 60's and was designated as the "Normal" variety for average skin and beard. At the dawn of the Television there was much doubt as to its popularity. Gillette, as always, was on the cutting edge of innovation. Would the TV be a passing fad or a new American household staple?
